Confidential counselling sessions

Creating a trusting relationship

I understand how important this is and I offer confidentiality, endeavouring always to hold your values and beliefs with the greatest of care and respect. I will encourage you to talk openly and honestly within the counselling sessions, about your feelings, helping you to clarify them, form new perspectives, make changes and find solutions to enrich your life.

Person centred counselling sessions in Stoke on Trent

Although I  work as integrative counsellor, my work is largely person centred which involves careful listening, trying to understand exactly what you are thinking and feeling and aiming  always to be honest and non-judgemental. I have studied and continue to study a number of different counselling approaches which we may draw on if helpful. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, aspects of the Psychodynamic approach and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). I also offer Inner Child work (See blog ‘What is Inner child work?’).

I am also a qualified EMDR therapist. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is recognised by The World Health Organisation and recommended in NICE guidelines as the preferred treatment for Trauma and PTSD. Follow this link if you would like to find out more about EMDR.

Improve your relationship with yourself and others

Sometimes we may be unaware of the fears and underlying beliefs that are leading to our own self-defeating thoughts and behaviours. If you chose to, we can explore and identify these together and work on changing them in a way that greatly improves your relationship with yourself and others.
